Firstly I would consider that the free WSS 3.0 will be enough for your
needs.
Secondly, here is a list of all the v3 released and non-released
http://www.asaris.de/sites/walsh/Lists/WSSv3%20FAQ/V%20Books.aspx
I'd suggest for your immediate needs item 22
(http://www.asaris.de/sites/walsh/Lists/WSSv3%20FAQ/DispForm.aspx?ID=888)
or item 19
(http://www.asaris.de/sites/walsh/Lists/WSSv3%20FAQ/DispForm.aspx?ID=828)
I've seen item 22 but have only seen Chapter One of item 19 (which was
however the best chapter one that was on-line, though)
For more on-line chapter ones see

Searching for non-painful techniques to copy SharePoint sites from one server to another SharePoint We have some developers who are working in a 3 tiered development process - Dev, QA, and finally Production. They are developing MOSS 2007 sites, using SharePoint standard features, SharePoint Designer, InfoPath, etc. They are doing quite a bit of seen a lot of pain occur when it is time to move one of the sites from the dev machine to the qa machine. However, when we export the site from as long, debugging issues over and over, etc. When I research the topic of copying sites from one Sharepoint server to another, I do not see a lot of discussion of pages / content-deployment-best. . . So, if I have a dev environment with dozens of sharepoint sites in development, and I want ONE of those sites moved to a new level, I have to package up the entire server worth of sites, overwrite whatever already exists at the next level, then remove the unwanted site collections? It separate server for each sharepoint site. But within an enterprise, there might be thousands of sites - that does not sound like a scalable solution to me. Maybe I am missing something
t appear in search SharePoint MOSS 2007 64 bit SP2 Search is working for most sites, but I have a group of 5 sites that are all sub-sites of a single site - the contents of that parent site appear in searches, but none of those sub-sites contents appear in searches. When I check the crawl logs I see errors like this setting a policy to allow your crawl access via policy? My Sites maximum size SharePoint Hello I read in the SP2010 docs that a site collection should not be greater than 100 GB. Does this also apply to My Sites ? Pierrot SharePoint Discussions SharePoint (1) Site (1) Database (1) Collection (1) Yes. Do you mean yes, EACH site in My Sites is limited to 100 GB, or - yes, the My Sites collection is limited to 100 GB ? I cannot imagine that My Sites is limited to 100 GB ! But that would mean that EVERY site in My Sites is a Site Collection, right ? So what is My Sites ? A site collection of site collections ? Pierrot Each My Site is a separate site collection limit. This is a recommendation only and not a physical limitation of SharePoint. The My Sites is a web application. . . and yes, a Web application hosts multiple Site Collections. keywords: My
