I am getting a lot of 8214's. I found this page:
http://yagyashree.wordpress.com/event-id-8214-object-reference-not-set-to-an-instance-of-an-object/
With the following solution.
But I do not understand what he is saying in this line:
*You need to specify the URL which is giving you problem in the "Intranet"
zone*
What exactly should I be doing?
The AAM looks fine on our server. Is there anything else that will fix this
problem?
Thanks
Resolution:
===========
->Open you Central Administration site and go to "operations"
->look for "Alternate Access Mappings"
->In the page you will find "Alternate Access Mapping Collection" and it
will say "Show All"
->Click on the small arrow point downwards on this "Show All" location and
you will get "Change Alternate Access Mapping Collection"
->Go ahead and choose the Web Application which is responsible for the
problem site
->You will see that there is a URL already showing in "Default" zone
->You need to specify the URL which is giving you problem in the "Intranet"
zone. So it will see like this:
Default: http://matrix
Intranet: http://yagyashree.org
->Performed IISRESET
Sharepointserver1
(1)
Intranetportal
(1)
IISRESET
(1)
Matrix

AAM

He is basically saying to specify the intranet URL. for example.
If you have a site as the default url as http://sharepointserver1:8080
and you have configured alternate access mapping for the same web app
and you can browse the site internally as http://intranetportal:8080.
Then you have to select the later, thats what the line says.

if i am internal or external and the site i created after i set up AAM works fine. I have one site that when accessed from external, the links do not from http: / / sharepoint to sp.website.com. Is there any easy way to apply the AAM to the broken SP site created before i added the Internet zone AAM mapping? If not, what is the most effecient way to update with AAM correctly? Hi Scott, I think you should refer this site http: / / blogs.msdn.com / sharepoint

If this is the scenario then AAM setting will superseed the IIS hostheader settings, just in case all sites are running on B in only IIS will not route request sent for site A to Database B. service. This makes me to believe that this could be something to do with the AAM settings. It could be that AAM for the site might have been done so that its pointing to Physical box. Please check if that is the case, and if so then ensure that you ahve AAM set pointing to VM box.
