SharePoint - SharePoint question... confused

Hello everybody

Lately, I tried to inform myself about Microsoft SharePoint.
But somehow I couldn't get a clear picture, I am pretty much confused.
There are various SharePoint products:
- SharePoint Server
- SharePoint Portal
- SharePoint Services
- SharePoint Designer

When I want to employ SharePoint to simplify the collaboration of the
employees, what products do I have to buy? Do I need all of them?

I apologize if my question looks quite dumb to you, but I can't get
ahead without some help...

I absolutely appreciate all answers. Thanks.

Can I suggest that you read chapter one of the Real World SharePoint
2007 book (Wrox 2007) where I include a history of the various
SharePoint products and deal with all these names in I hope an
understandable manner.

It's on-line (free) go to
http://wss.asaris.de/sites/walsh/Lists/WSSv3%20FAQ/VII%20Book%20Extracts.aspx
and the link is item 23A.

Come back here once you've read it if you have further questions.

Using Sharepoint 2010 for data storage but still running full Access client with vba and normal forms SharePoint Some time ago, Albert Kallah wrote that with Access 2010 it was possible to store access 2010 data on Sharepoint 2010 but still run the Access client in windows much as a "normal" access client accessing the data on Sharepoint 2010. sits on SharePoint. You can also have the application sit on SharePoint and a copy gets pulled down sure local machine when you click on and on the SharePoint site, you will need access installed for this to occur. So, in this case we even replication via the internet. This seems much slicker. Again my interest is data on sharepoint 2010 and use normal windows / Access clients on each user's PC. I am not

Data Format on SharePoint pages - how to set SharePoint I'm relatively new to SharePoint. We are planning on deploying Microsoft Office SharePoint 2007. I've installed a Proof of Concept "farm". On all of the servers and are either XP SP3 or Vista SP1. The Regional and Language Options were set BEFORE SharePoint was installed. However, all date fields on the SharePoint pages show as mm-dd-yyyy, which is ambiguous with respect to the day and ca / bsanders / It's perfectly useless to know the right answer to the wrong question.
