WSS 3.0 Site creation and Email notification

In WSS 2.0 during the creation of the site you could send an email to the person requesting the site during the actual creation of the site. Where do you do this in WSS 3.0???? You can add the group, users and determine whether you want to add custom groups etc. But, how do you notify the person that requested the site in Sharepoint? I'm puzzled by this one.

This process works a little differently in WSS 3.

This process works a little differently in WSS 3.0 (as you have already
guessed). The e-mail notification still exists if you explicitly add people
to the site (via Site Settings / People and Groups). However, the
notification process no longer exists at site creation time.

Another new feature added is that you can add all the people you want at
site creation time, get your site configured the way you want. And then
navigate to the People and Groups via the Site Settings screen. You will see
that from the Action menu, there is an option to e-mail the members of that
group. You could use this process to send out the e-mails.

So to cut a long post down, you have two options in WSS 3.0 when it comes to
the notification process.

1. Create default groups without any members (except yourself) and then add
the users explicitly via the People and Groups section. This will give you
the options to send an e-mail notification about the site.
2. Add all the users at site creation time, and then use the e-mail selected
users via the Action menu from the People and Groups section.

I personally prefer this process in WSS 3.0 over WSS 2.0 because MOST of the
time you want to put a little structure to your site before you invite the
rest of your team.

I hope this helps.
