Hi, i am using SPS 2003, i have created document library and created a new
column(Ex. Department). So users can mention their Department name when they
upload documents. I need to add a field Department in the Search Dropdown.
When i select this Department and enter a valid Department name in the
textbox, documents corresponding to the particular Department should be
displayed in the search results. Please help in this.

what you are looking is called Search Scopes

Read the following resources:

Hope that helps

I actually wonder if he is asking the right question.

If he has a document library and a column containing the department name
and wants to see all the documents from that document library that are
from department X, all he needs to do is to create a View for each
department (or even show users how to use Filter from a total list of
documents).

For the situation he says he wants, he doesn't need to use Search at all.

Using Sharepoint 2010 for data storage but still running full Access client with vba and normal forms SharePoint Some time ago, Albert Kallah wrote that with Access 2010 it was possible to store access 2010 data on Sharepoint 2010 but still run the Access client in windows much as a "normal" access client accessing the data on Sharepoint 2010. sits on SharePoint. You can also have the application sit on SharePoint and a copy gets pulled down sure local machine when you click on and on the SharePoint site, you will need access installed for this to occur. So, in this case we even replication via the internet. This seems much slicker. Again my interest is data on sharepoint 2010 and use normal windows / Access clients on each user's PC. I am not

Data Format on SharePoint pages - how to set SharePoint I'm relatively new to SharePoint. We are planning on deploying Microsoft Office SharePoint 2007. I've installed a Proof of Concept "farm". On all of the servers and are either XP SP3 or Vista SP1. The Regional and Language Options were set BEFORE SharePoint was installed. However, all date fields on the SharePoint pages show as mm-dd-yyyy, which is ambiguous with respect to the day and ca / bsanders / It's perfectly useless to know the right answer to the wrong question.
