Hi, I am a novice about SharePoint. Can anybody tell me if Office SharePoint,
Windows SharePoint and SharePoint Portal are same thing? same server
application? or what is the different among them?
Thanks in advance!
Lisa

Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (aka MOSS) is the latest version of
the SharePoint technology. SharePoint Portal generally refers to the old
version 2003. Both versions of the portal software run ontop of Windows
SharePoint Services. 2007 version runs on WSS 3.0 and SharePoint Portal
Server 2003 runs on WSS 2.0.
WSS is technically free ... it follows the Windows 2003 Licensing model.
Hopefully this helps.

SharePoint Subject: access denied to images (again) (it seems my first post of this question did properly under my technet account. posting again. Sorry.) I have several site collections on a sharepoint 2007 farm. One of the sites has a problem loading images from / _layouts / images / . Specifically site collections are loading the same graphics from the same C: \ Program Files \ Common Files \ Microsoft Shared \ Web Server Extensions \ 12 \ TEMPLATE \ IMAGES location just fine. The site in question was one of your sites could not show graphics from folder C: \ Program Files \ Common Files \ Microsoft Shared \ Web ServerExtensions \ 12 \ TEMPLATE \ IMAGES. Other sites could show the graphics in the same application pool account and check if you can access the C: \ Program Files \ Common Files \ Microsoft Shared \ Web ServerExtensions \ 12 \ TEMPLATE \ IMAGES directly. If there is any update, don't hesitate to post back. SharePoint Edit task error Office 07 I have posted about this before, but the problem has come back. When a to a document, it sends an email to the people they list. Those that have Office 07 get a button that says "Edit this Task." When they click it, it throws to the server or because the task no longer exists." Those that don't have office 07 don't see that button, so things work fine. Yes, if the person manually loads fine. No, if the person goes to add / remove programs and tells all of Office to Are there any other updates on this issue? SharePoint Site Usage Summary The site usage summary doesn't work. It shows 0 activity on specific error 4 (0x4). For more information, see Help and Support Center at http: / / go.microsoft.com / fwlink / events.asp. Since this mentions a scheduler service it seems like it could Encoding: 7bit Hello Super, Based on my knowledge, the TSM-Scheduler service is not a Microsoft service, and it will not affect SharePoint functions. Basically, to configure portal site usage reporting, we should do the following: 1. Enable Windows SharePoint Services usage logging 2. Enable portal usage reporting 3. Activate portal usage reporting 4. Monitor portal usage reporting For more information, please see: Configure portal usage reporting http: / / technet2.microsoft.com / Office / en-us / library / 5233cf43-6a8f-40cb-9014-0724600e7e381033.mspx I hope it will be helped attach the ULS logs for further analysis or send them to me at v-rozhao@microsoft.com.
