Hello,

I´m trying to find "the real answer" on the problem to open office documents
on an extranet where the users log on with User/Password on the WSS3 site and
then have to retype User/Password for every office document.
The answers I have found is:
- Trusted sites
- FBA with Persistent Cookies
- blaha blahaa

Can anyone point me in the right direction here plz? :-)

Did you try them? Any results?

I too, would love to find out the true mysteries of active directory over
HTTPS. As far as I can tell, the 'easiest' solution is to switch everyone
over to Firefox which does properly remember the login.

A really good solution is ISA Server and persistent cookies.

I keep seeing posing about persistent cookies but I cannot find any ways
to configure this. Can someone point me in the right direction on how
to do this?

Hello to configure persistent cookie in ISA Server:
- Isa server management
- Firewall Policy
- ToolBox
- Web Listeners
- Select the web listener for your published sharepoint
- Right clic properties
- Forms Tab
- Clic Advanced
- Fill the Cookie settings section

Is it possible to config FBA + Persistent cookies without any ISA server?

Hello, I think you can use new sharepoint Forms authentication and configure
persistent cookies in web.config. The problem is that you need to set up an
authentication provider, I tested the active directory provider and the
problem is that I had two diferents users, the ad user and the ad provider
user.

ISA and WSS3.0 SharePoint Hello All I have been using ISA with SSL bridging and link translation to redirect a host hame for example https: \ sps cannot put it into a real life scenario It seems to be working fine using ISA and link transalation, is there something that wont work properly? I can succesfully create path I can use DNS to point say for example http: / / wsssite.mycompany.com to my ISA box. If I then append the site path on the end bingo it all works and ISA link trnaslation takes care of the links. I guess I'm also confused regarding path create host name based sites as opposed to path named sites if I am using ISA. I am only interested in external access Is this a host based site or a created host based sites using the STSADM command line utility and have published these via ISA. I had to create a host header for each site on the Sharepoint - 80 application how would I SSL enable these host based sites? I can terminate SSL at my ISA box and offload SSL for these sites but I would like to perform SSL bridging
2007 - File not found when using anonymous access SharePoint Windows 2003 R2 SP2, MOSS 2007, ISA 2006 I have an issue where, when using anonymous access through ISA, my picture libraries don't function properly. Everything works, except when you click on a Forms / DispForm.aspx?ID = 5&Source = http%3A%2F%2Fsharepoint%2Erimrock%2Ecom%2Fsites%2Fsamples%2Fjeffandcarolyn%2FPics%2FThe%2520Cottage%2FForms%2FAllItems%2Easpx&RootFolder = %2Fsites%2Fsamples%2Fjeffandcarolyn%2FPics%2FThe%20Cottage I have been publishing MOSS through ISA 2006 for 6 months using SSL at the ISA server and HTTP at the MOSS server. ISA redirects to port 80 on the MOSS server. This has been working perfectly fine. To enable anonymous access for this site, I needed to create a separate listener in ISA for the anonymous authentication, so I am publishing the anonymous access on HTTP port 80 functionality that doesn't work. If I access the sharepoint site anonymously but directly (no ISA), I do not experience the issue. For both the SSL and the HTTP connections, ISA translates .com to .ca when passing to MOSS. This works fine on the SSL, so
Search / ISA / AAM's SharePoint I have been going round and round with trying to get my search working properly now that we have published the site through ISA. I had the search working correctly before we moved it behind ISA and I just cannot seem to get things quite right with ISA. We have an ISA server that is publishing for the URL of Testmysite.domain.com. We have a valid certificate from Network Solutions installed on ISA for that URL. The Name it forwards to is myportal.test.portal which is hosted the search account has the permissions it needs. It worked before we put it behind ISA. I have tried modifying the crawl rule to say use client cert but all I was either not found or the crawler was denied access to it.)" Could some search / ISA guru please shed a little light in my murky world? SharePoint Portal Server Discussions SharePoint
ISA Server required to publish MOSS 2007 and for AAM to work? SharePoint We're planning will be collaborative sites, meeting sites, etc. Most of the white papers and blogs mention ISA as part of the extranet topology. The security role of ISA is obvious. However, is alternate access mapping functionality dependent on ISA? Aside from the obvious loss of security, can we publish sites without putting ISA between the Internet and MOSS, and just allow web traffic to pass? Thanks. SharePoint Setup Discussions ISA Server 2006 (1) MOSS 2007 (1) Oleson (1) Coop (1) Joel (1) Concentrates (1) Presence of the questions. AAM (Alternate Access Mapping) functionality is NOT dependent on the presence of ISA Server. It's unfortunate that the early parts (especially) of the MS paper on AAM (earlier the first blog item of three by Joel Oleson) concentrates on ISA Server as this leads to the feeling that you need ISA Server for AAM.
