SharePoint - Column-Level Security in a List
Asked By Bob Manjoney

I would like to implement a spreadsheet view of a list and control the
editability attribute of the various columns based on the logged on
user/group. Is this possible in WSS 3.0? If not, are there add-ons that
might support this functionality?
Thanks in advance,
Bob

Metadata is not independently secured apart from the content item the MD
describes. I do not know of any third-party products that can do this.
