SharePoint - Sharepoint Designer can't connect to Sharepoint (hosted by NS)

I am using the new Network Solutions SharePoint service and need to connect
using Sharepoint Designer so that I can make backups and design workflows.
I can access the Sharepoint site via a browser (IE7) using my admin password
and can create pages, change the look and feel etc.
When I use SharePoint Designer (2007 sp2) if I try to open the site I get
the sign in page but when I enter my admin details I get an error message:
The folder "http://www.mypage.info/" is not accessible. The folder may be
located in an unavailable location, protected with a password, or the
filename contains a / or \.
If I try to create a new subsite directly from SPD I get the following error:
Unable to open Web site. Possible Causes:
1. The web server may not have the FrontPage Server extensions installed.
2. The web server may be temporarily out of service.
3. If you are connceting through a proxy server, the proxy settings may be
incorrect.
4. An error may have occurred in the web server.
I have tried contacting Network Solutions for help but they say that the
server side is working fine and that they do not support SPD - very
frustrating as this is the only product that is available.
As a side note, I had problems logging in to the browser version last week
and Network Solutions remedy was to restore the entire site to the default
settings, thus deleting all the work I had done!!!
Anyone had similar issues and knows of a solution?
Many thanks!

Its possible that they have actually disallowed Designer connections to the
farm.

Share point installation on windows server 2008 R2 SharePoint I have registered for MS partnership programs and gat the setup CD for Windows Server 2008 R2 and installed it. I have even the sharepoint Installation cd 64-bit. When I tried to install the sharepoint server I got the exception as there are compatibility issues. I have also searched for that I should install WSS3.0. I have downloaded it and installed. After installation, the sharepoint server also got installed and when I try to add any new document under shared section, I am getting an exception. Would any one help me in resolving the issue? Moving to SharePoint - Advice? SharePoint I have had several clients ask about putting their Access database on the web. So the inevitable any longer: I am going to have to get up to speed on SharePoint - specifically as it relates to porting Access 2010 dbs and linking the two. Any advice other resources that might be helpful. Also, I imagine I will have to purchase some SharePoint hosting for development and testing, correct? Anyone have any recommendations for inexpensive hosts for single-person developers? Thanks in advance for any assistance! SharePoint 2007 Benchmark Performance Guidelines SharePoint Hi, We are looking to implement MOSS 2007 for a large project which will have about 1.5 million users trying to access at the same time. I am little worried about performance and high availability on MOSS 2007. I was just wondering if any of you have implemented MOSS 2007 for a large scale project before. What issues have you faced with MOSS 2007? Did you have any performance issues? I am also looking to get some information on the lines of benchmarking MOSS 2007. Please let me know if any of you could help me with this. Thanks, Lakshmi
