Hi Guys,

Pardon me if i'm wrong.
I've just downloaded the sample master pages from office.microsoft.com
The documentation states that the master page is just a template that should
be used throughout the sites for standard content and style. It needs to be
applied together with content pages to be presented to users.

Can i use these sample master page directly for the sites that i already
created (via central admininistration? ) ?
If not , how do i make use of these master pages ?

I'm sorry but the documents are getting me confused.

Thanks for the help.

Sam

Sam,
unpack the files in the master page folder and from sharepoint designer
under catalogs-master pages you add files and then add the folders from the
master page directory.

Then through the site actions site-settings page-go to master page and use
your newly imported master pages.

Hope this helps you!

How do i assign the pages to use the new master page ?
Is it only can be done in Sharepoint Designer ? or is there another place
that can do it ?

Once you have the new master pages saved on the _catalogs/masterpage
folder, make a right click on the template you want to use and select
an option that says make this page the default. That will do it.
